AEBL is a member-supported not-for-profit organization offering business leadership education and networking forums for Northern California professionals in the Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Environmental industries. Our program portfolio includes topic-focused lunchtime roundtables; financial literacy mentoring; Step Up to Leadership Summer Series; half- and full-day workshops; CEO Roundtable; and our popular Annual Strategic Growth Symposium.
Our events are unique in the AEC industry, as most comprise multi-generational participants with a range of backgrounds— engineer, project manager, architect, marketing director, interior designer, planner, human resources director, scientist, etc.— which result in broad discussions with many perspectives.

Step Up to Leadership
AEBL’s signature event is now a six-section summer program offering an annual sampling of best business practices among architecture, design, engineering, construction, and environmental consulting firms. This event highlights the unique character of AEBL event participation. Sections are led by a faculty of practicing executives and industry management consultants who bring their respective expertise and first-hand experiences to each topic, and attendees include a range of professionals along the entire career continuum. AEBL’s Strategic Growth Symposium is an annual event developed for executives and directors responsible for growth strategies in their organizations. This informative, day-long session addresses a range of growth strategies, including organic growth, external transactions and capitalization, and more. Participants engage in panels, presentations, and substantive discussions with peers, helping share their vision for their firms’ future.

I first became part of AEBL more than 10 years ago. I started going to the Executive Roundtables which allowed me to voice some problems I was having with my business. The access to people in the same circumstances was unprecedented. The networking has been great and the professional relationships that have developed from my involvement are extremely valuable. I gained so much value from these sessions that I wanted to be more active. I started volunteering to teach a section of Step Up To Leadership, hosted roundtables and I have also been a Board member four years now. Being a part of AEBL allows me to gain from other’s experiences and also give back to an industry that has been very good to me. I highly recommend being involved in AEBL.
